Research and Exploration The purpose of the Exploration and Survey
Committee is to promote and support exploration and documentation of underwater
caves and to improve the quality and quantity of underwater cave maps available
to cave divers. In pursuit of these goals, the NACD provides funding for
exploration and survey projects by NACD members both internationally and
throughout the United States. Survey workshops are hosted periodically where
members can learn basic techniques for surveying, processing data and drawing
cave maps.
Deadline For
Project Funding is January 1st, 2011!
The National Association for Cave Diving (NACD) plays a vital role in
promoting the understanding and protection of underwater caves around the
world. In addition to its educational and training programs, the NACD strives
to support exploration, research, and documentation of underwater caves. To
this end, the NACD Board of Directors considers funding, on an annual basis,
of qualified applicants in an attempt to offset the inhibiting cost of this
essential process.
The deadline for submission for funding is January 1st, 2011. Proposals are
evaluated, in part, on NACD membership representation, transparency of use of
funds, benefits to the NACD, team qualifications, public recognition of the
NACD, and project deliverables. The NACD board reserves the right, at any
time, to adjust the criteria by which an applicant is evaluated. A complete
list of the guidelines and the application is available below.
Questions and/or Applications should be submitted to:
